Guild History A performance group in the most extemporaneous sense of the word, The Guild of Saint Olaf was officially formed in September of 1994 by Guildmasters Ole Olausson and Vicki Dietrich. Some of the Guild Members have been working together for more than fifteen years. The primary purpose of the Guild is to perform as any one of several Royal Courts of Europe during the 1450-1620 time period for Renaissance events in the southwestern United States. The Guild has also performed at charity fundraisers and promotional events, as well as on television. In 1995 the court members were central to the plot of a feature length movie, "The Faire Nerd". The Guild of Saint Olaf is structured as a traditional Guild, and serves an educational function whenever it performs. Guildmembers heavily research the history and background of the Renaissance Court to be portrayed. Ole Olausson is a direct descendent of the Vasa Dynasty of Sweden (and looks it!); British born Vicki Dietrich has lived in India and Spain, and danced with Sadler's Wells Ballet (now the British Royal Ballet). Between them they command eight languages, frequently conversing with foreign visitors in the visitors' own language. A list of current members can be found on the Member Page A tribute to past members who are sadly no longer with us can be found on the Memorial Page Below is an incomplete list of past festivals and events that have featured The Guild of Saint Olaf.
